David Benavídez y Caleb Plant confirman acuerdo para enfrentarse a principios de 2023

Las protestas unánimes contra la posibilidad de un choque entre David Benavídez y José Uzcátegui llevaron a Premier Boxing Champions a seguir un camino totalmente diferente. Y es que, el conglomerado promocional no sólo terminó renunciando a organizar este ridículo enfrentamiento, sino que decidió poner sobre la mesa unas negociaciones para un interesantísimo choque: una pugna entre Benavídez y Caleb Plant.
Aunque había rumores sobre esto desde días atrás, hace unas horas las noticias se han sucedido hasta que la pugna ha terminado confirmada. Primero, varios medios informaron de que el duelo Benavídez-Uzcátegui había sido desechado, pasándose luego a señalar que Benavídez y Plant estaban en negociaciones para un posible combate con el título interino WBC del peso supermedio en juego, o lo que es lo mismo, para convertirse en aspirante obligatorio de Canelo Álvarez.
Finalmente, los propios boxeadores informaron a través de sus redes sociales que habían firmado el contrato para la pelea y que ésta se va a producir. Según se reporta, podría tener lugar en enero de 2023, aunque no se puede descartar que termine moviéndose unos meses en el calendario. Sea como sea, tras la sucesión de negociaciones para grandes combates que terminaron en desacuerdo el pasado mes, la confirmación del Plant-Benavídez resulta una estupenda noticia para los aficionados, que por fin podrán ver uno de los encuentros más esperados en la categoría de las 168 lb.

The promotional conglomerate not only ended up renouncing to organize this ridiculous bout, but also decided to put on the table a very interesting fight: a clash between Benavídez and Caleb Plant.
Although there were rumors about this already in the past week, a few hours ago a string of news has led to the confirmation of the fight. First, various media outlets reported that the Benavídez-Uzcátegui clash had been scrapped, and then went on to point out that Benavídez and Plant were in negotiations for a possible fight with the WBC interim super middleweight title at stake, or what is the same, to become Canelo’s mandatory challenger.
Finally, the boxers themselves announced through their social network accounts that they had signed the contract for the fight and that it will take place. According to reports, the fight could happen in January 2023, although it cannot be ruled out that it could end up being moved a few months on the calendar. In any case, after several negotiations for big fights ended in disagreement last month, the confirmation of the Plant-Benavídez fight is great news for the fans, who will finally see one of the most anticipated matches in the 168 pounds division.
