Declaraciones de Michel Rivera, Frank Martin, Uzcátegui, Shishkin, Potapov y Astrolabio, protagonistas de última velada de PBC del año

En menos de un mes, Premier Boxing Champions ofrecerá su última velada de la temporada, evento para el día 17 de diciembre en el Cosmopolitan de Las Vegas, Estados Unidos, que estará encabezado por el interesantísimo duelo eliminatorio WBA del peso ligero entre los invictos Michel Rivera y Frank Martin. En el respaldo principal que será emitido por Showtime, Vladimir Shishkin y José Uzcátegui se enfrentarán en una eliminatoria IBF del peso supermedio y Nikolai Potapov y Vincent Astrolabio se verán las caras en una eliminatoria IBF del peso gallo.
De cara a este evento, PBC ha puesto ya a la venta sus entradas y ha emitido una nota de prensa con declaraciones de los boxeadores. Empezando por el dominicano Rivera, éste pretende usar el choque ante Martin para enviar una advertencia sobre su proyección en la categoría:
“Este ese el tipo de combate que he estado pidiendo y no puedo esperar para entrar en el ring. Martin es un oponente fuerte y con un buen récord, pero estoy listo para mostrar que soy el futuro de la división del peso ligero. He estado entrenando duro en Miami para estar listo para cualquier cosa que traiga Martin. Aseguraos de sintonizar para esta pelea”.
Mucho más extenso en su explicación fue el estadounidense Martin, que aseguró que será un gran combate, y alabó las cualidades de su oponente, pero recalcando que se considera el púgil superior:
“Estoy emocionando por poder salir ahí y mostrarme a mí mismo y a los fans cómo de grande soy. Michel Rivera es un buen boxeador. Es técnicamente sólido y parece tener una mentalidad determinada lo que significa que va a ofrecer una buena pelea el 17 de diciembre. Estoy unos pasos por delante de Rivera en cuanto a tener velocidad, potencia e inteligencia de ring. Siento que tengo más en el arsenal. Va a ser un combate lleno de acción. Va a haber mucha emoción y se van a dar muchos golpes duros, así que, si queréis ver una pelea espectacular, preparaos para ver a dos hambrientos e invictos boxeadores enfrentarse. Recordad: todo no favorito tiene que ponerse en una situación incómoda para convertirse en el que manda”.
En cuanto el venezolano Uzcátegui, considera que es una oportunidad de oro para volver a donde estuvo en el pasado:
“Estoy emocionado por volver a pelear en Showtime el 17 de diciembre. Ahí fue donde gané mi título mundial y no puedo esperar para ofrecer otra gran actuación. Veo este combate contra Shishkin como mi oportunidad para recuperar mi cinturón. Voy a dejarlo todo en el ring en esta pelea. Es todo o nada para mí una vez que paso entre las cuerdas”.
También acoge con entusiasmo el ruso Shishkin esta primera gran pelea bajo los grandes focos:
“Esta es una oportunidad increíble para acercarme a mi gran sueño de convertirme en campeón mundial. Mi oponente es un fuerte excampeón mundial con un buen récord y un excelente conjunto de habilidades. Sin embargo, mi equipo y yo estamos haciendo todo lo que podemos para estar al 100% el 17 de diciembre. Creo que me voy a enfrentar a un gran oponente que me permitirá mostrar mi forma de combatir”.
Además, de expresar su agradecimiento por esta pelea eliminatoria, el filipino Astrolabio quiere dar continuidad en ella a su triunfo sobre Guillermo Rigondeaux.
“Estoy muy emocionado por hacer mi debut en Estados Unidos el 17 de diciembre. Quiero darle las gracias a mi promotor Manny Pacquiao y a todo mi equipo por hacer que este sueño se haga realidad. Me siento honrado por pelear en una eliminatoria por título mundial. Verdaderamente siento que me he ganado esta oportunidad con mi victoria sobre Rigondeaux. Esta es mi primera pelea en Showtime y estoy entrenando duro para hacer que sea memorable”.
Finalmente, también se refirió a sus ilusiones el ruso Potapov:
“Este es un momento importante de mi carrera y una pelea en la que lo estoy poniendo todo. Ganar un título mundial siempre ha sido mi sueño. Sé que este combate está a un paso de mi sueño. Voy a hacer todo lo que pueda para hacerlo realidad. Espero que mi oponente entre al ring en su mejor versión también para que podamos darle a los fans un gran enfrentamiento. Pase lo que pase, planeo que levanten mi brazo”.

In less than a month, Premier Boxing Champions will offer its last evening of the season on December 17 at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, United States. The card will be headlined by the very interesting WBA lightweight eliminator between the undefeated Michel Rivera and Frank Martin. In the main undercard aired on Showtime, Vladimir Shishkin and José Uzcátegui will meet in an IBF super middleweight eliminator and Nikolai Potapov and Vincent Astrolabio will clash in an IBF bantamweight eliminator.
Regarding this bill, PBC has already put the tickets on sale and has issued a press release with statements from the boxers. Starting with the Dominican Rivera, he intends to use the clash against Martin to put on notice the weight class:
“This is the type of fight that I’ve been asking for and I can’t wait to get into the ring. Martin is a strong opponent with a good record, but I’m ready to show that I am the future of the lightweight division. I’ve been training hard in Miami so that I’m ready for anything that Martin brings. Make sure you tune in to this fight!”
Much more extensive in his explanation was the American Martin, who affirmed that it will be a great fight, and praised the qualities of his opponent, but at the same time stressed that he considers himself the superior fighter:
“I’m excited to be able to go out there and prove to myself and prove to the fans how great I am. Michel Rivera is a good fighter. He’s technically sound and seems to have a determined mentality which means he’s going to come out and give a good fight on December 17. I’m just a few steps ahead of Rivera as far as having speed, power and ring IQ. I feel I have more in the arsenal. This is going to be an action-packed fight. There is going to be a lot of excitement, and a lot of hard shots are going to be dished out, so if you want to see a bang ’em fight, get ready to see two hungry, undefeated fighters go at it. Just remember: Every underdog had to go outside to an uncomfortable situation to become the top dog.”
As for the Venezuelan Uzcátegui, he considers that it is a golden opportunity to return to where he was in the past:
“I am thrilled to be returning to fight on Showtime on December 17th. That is where I won my world title and I can’t wait to put on another great performance. I am looking at this fight against Shishkin as my chance to reclaim my belt. I’m leaving it all in the ring in this fight. It’s all or nothing for me once I step between the ropes.”
The Russian Shishkin also enthusiastically welcomes his first big fight under the spotlight:
“This is an incredible opportunity for me to get closer to my ultimate dream of becoming world champion. My opponent is a strong former champion with a proven record and an excellent skill set. However, me and my team are doing everything we can to be 100% on December 17. I believe that I’m facing a great opponent who will allow me to showcase my style of fighting.”
Besides expressing his gratitude for participating in this eliminator, the Filipino Astrolabio wants to give continuity to his victory over Guillermo Rigondeaux:
“I am very excited to make my U.S. debut on December 17. I want to thank my promoter Manny Pacquiao and my whole team for making this dream come true. I’m honored to be fighting in a world title eliminator. I truly feel that I earned this opportunity with my victory over Rigondeaux. This is my first fight on Showtime and I’m training hard to make it a memorable one.”
Finally, the Russian Potapov also referred to his expectations:
“This is an important stage of my career and a fight that I’m putting everything into. Winning a world title has always been my dream. I know that this fight is one step away from that dream. I’m going to do everything I can in my power to make it a reality. I hope that my opponent comes into the ring at his best as well, so that we can give the fans a great fight. No matter what, I’m planning on having my hand raised.”
