Los mejores combates del fin de semana (1-4/12/2022)

Entramos en el último mes del año y en la recta final de la temporada, restando ya con el presente sólo tres fines de semana intensos antes de que llegue un drástico bajón en la actividad durante unas tres semanas. Así que, aunque puede ser difícil seguir todos los combates destacados que se producirán por los solapamientos, habrá que aprovechar y disfrutar del boxeo lo que se pueda mientras todavía haya combates.
Jueves 1 de diciembre
La actividad destacada del fin de semana iba a comenzar con dos eventos encabezados por campeonatos mundiales femeninos. El de más relieve iba a ser el que se iba a disputar en el estadio Place Bell de Laval, Canadá, puesto que iba a ser una unificación de cinturones mundiales WBA y WBC del peso minimosca entre las titulares Kim Clavel 16(3KO)-0 y Jessica Nery Plata 28(3KO)-2. Sin embargo, a menos de un día para el pesaje se informó de que Clavel estaba enferma y que la pugna quedaba aplazada al de 13 enero.
Así, finalmente, el único mundial que se disputará el jueves será el que se producirá en el Korakuen Hall de Tokio, Japón, como encuentro estelar de una velada íntegramente compuesta por combates femeninos. El cinturón en juego será el vacante cetro WBO del peso supermosca dejado vacante por Tamao Ozawa, corona por la que combatirán dos campeonas nacionales japonesas como la titular del peso gallo Kanako Taniyama 5(1KO)-1-1 y la monarca del peso mosca Mizuki Hiruta 3(0KO)-0.
Como la primera tiene más experiencia y ha militado en un peso más alto, quizás algunos la vean como favorita, pero Hiruta es una joven, activa y zurda que quizás pueda marcar la diferencia a su favor a base de ambición y desparpajo en el que debería ser un choque notablemente contendido.
Viernes 2 de diciembre
En cuanto a la jornada del viernes, evidentemente destaca el campeonato británico del peso superwélter entre el campeón Troy “Trojan” Williamson 19(14KO)-0-1 y el exaspirante al cinturón europeo wélter Josh “PBK” Kelly 12(7KO)-(1)-1, sin duda un enfrentamiento crucial para las carreras de ambos.
Al margen de que los dos son púgiles irregulares en su rendimiento y que necesitan mostrar que pueden estar a la altura de las circunstancias en esta gran noche ante un rival muy motivado y con aspiraciones, Williamson podría convertirse en un nombre destacado del panorama británico con un triunfo sobre Kelly, mientras que si gana este último recuperaría bastante impulso tras su derrota ante Avanesyan. Además, ambos son rivales directos en el ranking WBO, en el que Williamson es 6º y Kelly es 11º, por lo que el vencedor logrará una gran posición en el ranking de dicho organismo.
Esta velada, que se desarrollará en el Newcastle Arena de Newcastle, Reino Unido, y cuyo tramo final será emitido por Channel 5, contará también con un nuevo combate de recuperación para el peso semipesado Lyndon “King Arthur” 20(14KO)-1(1), que buscará seguir dejando atrás su derrota ante Anthony Yarde enfrentándose al campeón de Inglaterra Joel “El Toro” McIntyre 20(5KO)-4(1).
Por otro lado, en el Whitesands Events Center de Plant City, Estados Unidos, el servicio de suscripción de ProBox Tv emitirá un trascendental enfrentamiento para las aspiraciones mundialistas de dos peso crucero. Y es que el estadounidense Brandon “Bulletproof” Glanton 17(14KO)-0, 6º WBO, se enfrentará al neozelandés David “The Great White” Light 19(12KO)-0, 5º WBO, con dos títulos menores de la Organización en juego. Más allá de las clasificaciones, ambos son dos invictos que hasta ahora han logrado buenas victorias y que, a falta de una gran prueba de fuego, parecen tener proyección, por lo que su duelo resulta muy interesante y el ganador se perfilará como un serio contendiente al título.
En el respaldo, entre otros combates, el joven peso superpluma puertorriqueño Jaycob Bradley Gómez Zayas 6(5KO)-0-1, que viene de un empate, se enfrentará a un púgil fogueadísimo y con múltiples actuaciones meritorias como el mexicano-estadounidense Juan Antonio “The Wolf” López 17(7KO)-11(3)-1 y el peso superligero estadounidense Jusiyah “Kid” Shirley 7(6KO)-0 afrontará también un paso adelante contra el canadiense-guineano Mohamed “El Búfalo Negro” Soumaoro 11(5KO)-1.
El viernes se producirán también estos otros choques:
-En el Georgia International Convention Center de Atlanta, Estados Unidos, televisado por ESPN Knockout, el nicaragüense Gerardo Zapata 14(5KO)-0 buscará acercarse al top 5 WBO del peso minimosca peleando por un título menor contra el puertorriqueño René “Chulo” Santiago 9(7KO)-3, 14º WBO del peso mínimo.
-En el York Hall de Londres, Reino Unido, el titular regional del Central Area del peso superwélter Evaldas Korsakas 12(5KO)-8(3)-3 afrontará la tercera defensa de su cetro ante el invicto Jack “The Pilgrim” McGann 7(4KO)-0-1.
-En el Gymnase Lassalle de Vesoul, Francia, el campeón francés del peso crucero Brandon Deslaurier 14(3KO)-5-1 afrontará una sencilla primera defensa ante David Radeff 12(4KO)-16(6)-2.
-En el Centre 200 de Sydney, Canadá, el pegador Ryan “The Bruiser” Rozicki 15(14KO)-1 buscará un knockout ante el mexicano Mario “El Ruso” Aguilar 22(18KO)-8(5) para recuperar moral tras su controvertido triunfo ante el peso crucero Yamil Peralta.
Sábado 3 de diciembre
El mayor enfrentamiento de la jornada será el campeonato mundial WBC por el vacante cinturón del peso supermosca o, dicho de otro modo, el tercer choque entre los icónicos Román “Chocolatito” González y Juan Francisco “El Gallo” Estrada. Previa del combate siguiendo el link.
En el respaldo se producirán dos interesantes choques del peso mosca como el campeonato mundial WBC entre Julio César Martínez y Samuel Carmona y el duelo entre Joselito Velázquez y Cristofer Rosales. El otro campeonato mundial de la jornada será el WBC del peso pesado que sostendrán Tyson Fury y Derek Chisora, quienes completarán una trilogía muy diferente a la del Chocolatito-Estrada. Y es que Fury ha dominado los choques precedentes y no tiene sentido un tercer combate entre ambos, que sólo parece un regalo del campeón para que Chisora se despida del boxeo. Antes de que Fury y Chisora salten al ring, el pegador del peso pesado Daniel Dubois buscará anotarse un nuevo knockout ante un púgil que ascendió desde el peso crucero como Kevin Lerena, mientras que el plata olímpico Denys Berinchyk tratará de coronarse campeón de Europa del peso ligero ante el titular Yvan Mendy. Al margen de estos dos carteles, en el centro comercial Paradise City Plaza de Incheon, Corea del Sur, Fite emitirá por PPV una velada con nombres conocidos. Entre ellos destaca el excampeón mundial del peso gallo John Riel “Quadro Alas” Casimero 31(21KO)-4(1), que pondrá fin a 16 meses de inactividad y realizará su primer combate desde que fue desposeído de su corona (y desde que venció con controversia a Rigondeaux), midiéndose al exretador mundial japonés Ryo Akaho 39(26KO)-2(1)-1, púgil en racha de 13 victorias, entre ellas dos victorias en campeonatos nacionales japoneses.
Además, el veterano excampeón mundial mexicano Jhonny González 69(56KO)-11(4)-1 tratará de lograr su victoria más significativa de los últimos años enfrentándose en el peso superpluma al duro japonés, con mala fortuna en campeonatos nacionales, Takuya Watanabe 38(22KO)-11(1)-1 y el en otro tiempo considerado insigne prospecto Hiroki Okada 20(13KO)-2(2) pondrá fin a dos años de inactividad peleando en el peso wélter contra el local Jin Su Kim 8(4KO)-5(3).
Finalmente, el sábado también sobresale el duelo que sostendrán, en la Ciudad Deportiva de Carranque en Málaga, España, dos de los púgiles más relevantes del país como Jon Fernández 23(20KO)-2(1) y Samuel Molina 22(11KO)-2(1), que se verán las caras por el cinturón de campeón de España del peso superligero que posee el primero.
Añadido al hecho de que el ganador recibirá un tremendo impulso moral, este un muy interesante choque entre boxeadores con recursos técnicos, explosividad y ambición que debería deparar multitud de intercambios en la distancia media. Sin un abrumador favorito, quizás tenga un margen a su favor Fernández por su ventaja en experiencia de calidad y en pegada, pero midiéndose a un púgil que ha dado positivo en control antidopaje como Molina, no se puede dar por hecho que sobre el ring el primero vaya a tener más potencia que su rival.
Por lo demás, en la jornada se producirán también estos otros encuentros:
-En el Korakuen Hall de Tokio, Japón, el top 15 en cuatro organismos Reiya Abe 23(10KO)-3-1 expondrá su cinturón japonés del peso pluma frente a un púgil joven, invicto y zurdo como Jinki Maeda 10(5KO)-0.
-En The Ring Boxing Club de Munich, Alemania, un peso ligero con un rendimiento poco convincente como Howik Bebraham 19(5KO)-2 se medirá al voluntarioso rumano Alex Rat 15(5KO)-5(1)-2.
-En el Coliseo Municipal de Valdivia, Chile, se producirá un bien emparejado choque del peso supermosca entre la local Daniela “La Leona” Asenjo 12(2KO)-3-3 y la excampeona mundial peruana Linda Laura “La Princesa Inca” Lecca 15(3KO)-4(1)-2.
-En Tlalnepantla, México, la dura y experimentada María Guadalupe “La Licenciada” Bautista 20(4KO)-11-2 tratará de extender su racha ante la competente Gabriela “La Bonita” Sánchez 8(0KO)-5(1).
Domingo 4 de diciembre
La actividad relevante del fin de semana se extenderá hasta el domingo, día en el que tendrán lugar dos veladas destacables. Por un lado, en el EDION Arena de Osaka, Japón, en principio emitido a través de YouTube, se desarrollará un cartel en el que el prospecto del peso mínimo Goki Kobayashi 4(3KO)-0 tratará de acceder al top 15 mundial venciendo al filipino, 6º WBC, Marco John Rementizo 13(10KO)-3(2). Además, el veteranísimo Kenichi Horikawa 41(14KO)-17(3)-1 y el fogueado y peligroso filipino Joey Canoy 18(10KO)-5(2)-2 pelearán por el título OPBF del peso minimosca y Daiki Tomita 18(6KO)-2(1) y Rikito Shiba 6(3KO)-2(2) combatirán por el vacante cinturón de Japón del peso minimosca.
Por otro lado, en el Auditorio Municipal de Tijuana, México, televisado por ESPN Knockout se producirá un evento de Zanfer que contará con otras tres pugnas mencionables. Una será una muy interesante pelea del peso superpluma entre los imbatidos Ángel Daniel “El Alemán” García 13(10KO)-0 y Miguel Ángel “Mickey” Torres 11(6KO)-0. En otra el peso superwélter Damián “Samurai” Sosa 21(11KO)-1, después de su cuestionable triunfo ante Ronald Cruz, tratará de cerrar el año positivamente en un combate contra el venezolano Juan “El Niño” Ruiz 27(19KO)-7(4). Por último, el pegador Ricardo Espinoza 27(23KO)-4(1) intentará seguir alejándose de su derrota ante Daniel Román enfrentándose a un Edgar Alor 14(12KO)-3(1)-1 en teoría sencillo para su nivel.

We have already entered in the last month of the year and in the final stretch of the boxing season, with only three intense weekends left before a drastic drop in activity for about three weeks. So while it can be difficult to follow all the relevant fights in the coming days due to the overlaps, we will have to take advantage and enjoy boxing as much as we can while there are still clashes.
Thursday, December 1
The noteworthy bouts were supposed to begin with two events headlined by women’s world championships. The most important one was going to take place at the Place Bell in Laval, Canada, since Kim Clavel 16(3KO)-0 and Jessica Nery Plata 28(3KO)-2 were going to fight in a unification of the WBA and WBC world light flyweight belts. However, less than a day before the weigh-in, it was reported that Clavel was ill and that the fight was postponed to January 13.
Thus, the only world title bout that will happen on Thursday will have as a venue the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan, and it will be the main event of an evening with only female fights. The belt at stake will be the vacant WBO super flyweight title vacated by Tamao Ozawa, and the challengers will be two Japanese national champions such as the bantamweight titleholder Kanako Taniyama 5(1KO)-1-1 and the flyweight monarch Mizuki Hiruta 3(0KO)-0.
As the former has more experience and has fought at a higher weight, some may see her as the favorite, but Hiruta is a young, active and southpaw fighter who may win relying on her ambition and self-confidence in what should be a very contested clash.

As for Friday, obviously the matchup that stands up more is the British super welterweight championship between titlist Troy «Trojan» Williamson 19(14KO)-0-1 and former European welterweight title challenger Josh «PBK» Kelly 12(7KO)-(1)-1, without a doubt a crucial confrontation for their careers.
Despite the fact that they are both irregular fighters and need to show they can rise to the occasion on this big night against a highly motivated opponent, Williamson could become a big name on the British scene with a victory over Kelly, while if the latter wins he would regain quite a bit of momentum after his loss to Avanesyan. In addition, both are direct rivals in the WBO ranking, in which Williamson is 6th and Kelly is 11th, so the winner will achieve a great position in the list of that organization.

Finally, at the Ciudad Deportiva de Carranque in Málaga, Spain, two of the most relevant boxers in the country such as Jon Fernández 23(20KO)-2(1) and Samuel Molina 22(11KO)-2(1) will face each other for the Spanish super lightweight belt that the former owns.
Added to the fact that the winner will receive a tremendous morale boost, this is a very interesting clash between boxers with technical resources, explosiveness and ambition that should offer plenty of exchanges at mid-range. Without an overwhelming favorite, Fernández may have a margin in his favor due to his advantage in quality experience and punch, but facing a fighter who has tested positive in an anti-doping control like Molina, it cannot be taken for granted that in the ring the former will have more power than his opponent.

On the other hand, in the Auditorio Municipal of Tijuana, Mexico, televised by ESPN Knockout, Zanfer will offer an event that will feature three other mentionable fights. One will be a very interesting super featherweight fight between the unbeaten Ángel Daniel “El Alemán” García 13(10KO)-0 and Miguel Ángel “Mickey” Torres 11(6KO)-0.
