Como tantas otras semanas, arrancamos en el Korakuen Hall de Tokio, Japón, donde el pegador del peso supergallo, excampeón continental (OPBF) Kazuki Nakajima 13(11KO)-1(1)-1 intentará entrar en el top 15 WBO capturando un título menor ante el filipino Kenny “Big Heart” Demecillo 16(10KO)-5(1)-2. El zurdo Nakajima, que encadena tres triunfos, partirá como favorito, pero Demecillo es un boxeador competente, e incluso peligroso, que noqueó contra pronóstico en Rusia al invicto Vyacheslav Mirzaev y que perdió estrechamente una eliminatoria mundialista ante Michael Dasmariñas. Así que Nakajima tendrá rounds útiles y más le valdrá andarse con ojo.
Viernes 17 de febrero
En este día se producirá otra edición más de la serie para prospectos ShoBox: The New Generation, que en esta ocasión se producirá en el Stormont Vail Event Center de Topeka, Estados Unidos, organizada por DiBella Entertainment.
En el combate estelar el oro nacional estadounidense Ardreal Holmes 12(5KO)-0 afrontará un buen test peleando en el peso superwélter contra el imbatido Ismael Villarreal 12(8KO)-0, que precisamente viene de truncar el récord invicto de otro oro nacional estadounidense como LeShawn Rodríguez. En cuanto al semifondo, el peso pluma Edward “Kid” Vázquez 13(3KO)-1, que perdió con controversia ante Raymond Ford, intentará explotar su victoria ante el ucraniano Viktor Slavinskiy enfrentándose al también estadounidense Misael López 14(5KO)-1(1). Finalmente, la emisión de Showtime contará también con un choque del peso superligero en el que el exjugador de futbol americano universitario Kurt Scoby 10(8KO)-0 se enfrentará al australiano John “The Beast” Mannu 7(4KO)-0-1.
El viernes también sobresale un evento menor de Frank Warren y BT Sport desde el York Hall de Londres, Reino Unido. En el choque principal, el peso pesado David Adeleye 10(9KO)-0 intentará lograr su quinto triunfo antes del límite consecutivo, desde su polémica victoria ante Kamil Sokolowski, enfrentándose al ucraniano sin experiencia de calidad Dmytro “Bison” Bezus 10(5KO)-0. En el respaldo, el prospecto del peso ligero Mark Chamberlain 11(7KO)-0 pondrá fin a siete meses de inactividad peleando contra el campeón de Italia Vairo Lenti 10(1KO)-4-1, mientras que el peso superligero Henry Turner 9(2KO)-0 buscará mejorar su porcentaje de knockouts ante el español Zeus de Armas 15(4KO)-2(2)-1.

-En el Palasport de Massa, Italia, dos púgiles con experiencia internacional y que han peleado antes en campeonatos nacionales como Claudio Grande 9(3KO)-2 y Jonathan Sannino 15(3KO)-3(1)-1 combatirán por el vacante cinturón italiano del peso gallo. En el respaldo se producirá un duelo de invictos entre el excampeón de Italia del peso pluma Davide Tassi 14(6KO)-0 y el español sin poner a prueba Jose Antonio Sánchez Romero 15(6KO)-0-1.
-En el Aquarium Sports Arena de Krasnogorsk, Rusia, el exranqueado del peso medio Magomed Madiev 16(5KO)-1-2 disputará su primer combate de 2023 contra el extitular nacional argentino Emiliano Pucheta 17(7KO)-6(1).
-En el Grand Hotel de Tijuana, México, en teoría emitido por Facebook, el peso pluma Cristian “Lacandonsito” Cruz 20(10KO)-6 volverá al ring tras su rapidísimo triunfo sobre Pablo Robles enfrentándose a Luis Ronaldo Ruelas 14(11KO)-2(2)-1, que viene de empatar ante el imbatido prospecto Zaid Yam Espinosa.
Sábado 18 de febrero
El mayor combate de esta semana será el campeonato mundial WBA del peso pluma que enfrentará a dos aguerridos boxeadores como el británico Leigh Wood y el mexicano Mauricio Lara. En el respaldo, Dalton Smith expondrá su cinto británico ante Billy Allington, Gary Cully y Wilfredo Flores pugnarán en un choque de invictos y Gamal Yafai combatirá contra el fogueado Diego Alberto Ruiz. Por otro lado, en Estados Unidos se producirá una muy interesante eliminatoria WBC del peso supergallo entre Luis “Pantera” Nery y Azat “Crazy A” Hovhannisyan, si bien el respaldo de este evento de Golden Boy, como tantísimos otros de esta promotora, será un despropósito. El sábado también se debe mencionar un enfrentamiento que se producirá en el Palacio Municipal de Deportes Vista Alegre de Córdoba, España, ya que el destacado prospecto español José Luis Navarro Jr. 7(7KO)-0 afrontará su primera pelea titular combatiendo por el vacante cetro de España ante el veterano Ronny Landaeta 19(11KO)-4(1).
Navarro, de sólo 22 años, tiene 1,90 m de altura, un 100% de knockouts y en su mayor test hasta la fecha viajó a Alemania para terminar en sólo dos rounds con el invicto Dimitar Tilev, por lo que todo parece indicar que tiene el potencial para lograr buenos éxitos y ser una figura relevante en el pugilismo español. Con todo, antes de nada, y aunque será favorito para imponerse el sábado a un rival venido a menos, deberá superar su paso adelante ante un Landaeta competente, que perdió ajustadamente contra el 5º WBO e IBF Aslambek Idigov, que llegó a la última campana ante el poderoso Kevin Lele Sadjo y que padeció su única derrota antes del límite ante el muy prometedor Christian Mbilli.

-En el Elevations Event Center de Chester, Estados Unidos, el invicto prospecto del peso gallo Dylan Price 15(10KO)-0, 14º IBF y 15º WBO, pondrá fin a siete meses de inactividad ante el filipino Jobert Álvarez 20(7KO)-4(1)-2, que en diciembre ofreció una dura pelea al próximo retador mundial Melvin López.
-En el Cow Palace de Daly City, Estados Unidos, el exretador mundial rumano Ronald Gavril 22(18KO)-3, que derribó una vez a David Benavídez y perdió contra él por decisión dividida, buscará llevar a cinco su racha de victorias peleando en el peso semipesado contra Khainell Wheeler 7(6KO)-2(1).

Like so many other weeks, we start our article at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan, where super bantamweight puncher, former OPBF champion, Kazuki Nakajima 13(11KO)-1(1)-1 will attempt to break into the WBO top 15 by capturing a minor title against Filipino Kenny “Big Heart” Demecillo 16(10KO)-5(1)-2. The southpaw Nakajima, who has stringed three wins, will be the favorite, but Demecillo is a competent, and even dangerous boxer, who knocked out the undefeated Vyacheslav Mirzaev in an upset in Russia and narrowly lost a world title eliminator against Michael Dasmariñas. So Nakajima will have useful rounds and he’d better be careful.

On this day, another edition of the series ShoBox: The New Generation will take place, this time from the Stormont Vail Event Center in Topeka, United States, organized by DiBella Entertainment.
In the main event, American national gold medalist Ardreal Holmes 12(5KO)-0 will face a good test fighting at super welterweight against the undefeated Ismael Villarreal 12(8KO)-0, who precisely comes from scoring a win over another unbeaten American national gold medalist like LeShawn Rodriguez. The biggest fight of the week will be the WBA world featherweight championship between British Leigh Wood and the Mexican Mauricio Lara. The main card will also include Dalton Smith’s defense of his British belt against Billy Allington, a clash of unbeaten between Gary Cully and Wilfredo Flores and a bout in which Gamal Yafai will battle seasoned Diego Alberto Ruiz. In the United States there will be a very interesting WBC super bantamweight eliminator between Luis «Pantera» Nery and Azat «Crazy A» Hovhannisyan, although the support of this Golden Boy event, like so many others from this promoter, will be a complete nonsense. Read more following the link.
On Saturday it can also be mentioned a matchup that will take place at the Palacio Municipal de Deportes Vista Alegre in Córdoba, Spain, as top Spanish prospect José Luis Navarro Jr. 7(7KO)-0 will face his first title fight battling for the vacant Spanish belt against veteran Ronny Landaeta 19(11KO)-4(1).
Navarro (only 22 years old) is 1.90 m tall (6’ 3”), has a 100% knockout ratio and in his biggest test to date he traveled to Germany to beat in just two rounds the undefeated Dimitar Tilev, so everything seems to indicate that he has the potential to achieve good successes and be a relevant figure in Spanish boxing. However, first of all, and although he will be the favorite to beat a faded opponent, he will have to overcome his step up against the competent Landaeta, who lost narrowly against the WBO and IBF number 5 Aslambek Idigov, who reached the last bell against the powerful Kevin Lele Sadjo and who suffered his only stoppage defeat against the very promising Christian Mbilli.

-At the Cow Palace in Daly City, United States, Romanian former world title challenger Ronald Gavril 22(18KO)-3, who knocked down David Benavídez once and lost to him by split decision, will seek to bring his winning streak to five fighting at light heavyweight against Khainell Wheeler 7(6KO)-2(1).
-In Greece, young welterweight Panagiotis Tsochataridis 10(6KO)-0-1 will face his biggest challenge to date against Frenchman Melvin Moreau 11(4KO)-5(2)-1, who in his most recent fight ended Quentin Gomes’ unbeaten record with a TKO on the road.
