En las veladas de prospectos algunas promotoras sólo buscan que sus púgiles luzcan con rápidos knockouts, pero realmente lo lógico en este tipo de carteles es que las promesas se topen con ciertos retos que, incluso aunque no sean precisamente insuperables, les permitan aprender cosas de sus boxeos y les sirvan para mejorar. En este sentido, seguramente la velada de ProBox TV de la pasada noche fue útil para el peso superwélter Marques Valle 8(6KO)-0, que tuvo seis asaltos ante un Jarod Tennant 8(4KO)-2 poco potente pero voluntarioso y que tiene sus trucos. El triunfo de Valle fue unánime y con puntuaciones de 60-54, 60-54 y 59-55.
Tennant logró lo que ningún otro rival de Valle había logrado antes, es decir pasar del segundo asalto (el anterior púgil que Valle no noqueó fue descalificado en el segundo round). Para lograr ese objetivo, Tennant caminó por el ring, intentó bloquear, agarró y buscó conectar con cierta frecuencia contras y series de rectos disuasorios. De todos modos, aunque algunos de sus directos aislados o en combinación fueron astutos y precisos, el fuerte Valle se mantuvo siempre cerca de él y lo superó por contundencia conectando golpes de poder en directo, gancho zurdo, cruzado diestro, etc.
Por lo tanto, aunque no llegó a apabullar a su contrincante, no controló perfectamente los tiempos de ataque y recibió algunas manos en la distancia media que tendrá que estudiar, en general Valle impactó los puños más significativos y con ellos impresionó mucho más a los jueces que su oponente.
La velada de ProBox se inició con el debut en el boxeo profesional del joven peso supermedio estadounidense Derek Cintrón 1(0KO)-0, que venció por decisión unánime (40-36 y doble 39-37) al mexicano Darío Guerrero-Meneses 1(0KO)-3-1.
Inicialmente el zurdo Cintrón tomó la iniciativa y llegó con su uno-dos, pero en el segundo asalto Guerrero cargó al ataque intentando imponer sus curvos en corta. En adelante las acciones oscilaron entre ambos escenarios tácticos, pero en general Cintrón fue más preciso tanto atacando como cruzando golpes bajo presión, y en el cuarto round incluso pareció estremecer a su adversario. De todos modos, esto no impidió que Guerrero siguiese esforzándose hasta el final y diese cierto trabajo al ganador, que parece tener margen para militar en una categoría bastante más ligera.

In the evenings for prospects, some promoters only want their fighters to shine with quick knockouts, but really the logical thing in this type of cards is for the young fighters to face challenges that, even if they are not exactly insurmountable, allow them to learn things from their boxing and help them improve. In this sense, last night’s ProBox TV evening was surely useful for super welterweight Marques Valle 8(6KO)-0, who had six rounds against a boxer as Jarod Tennant 8(4KO)-2, who is not powerful but is tricky. To achieve that goal, Tennant walked around the ring, tried to block, grabbed and sought to connect counters and combinations of straight punches with some frequency. Still, while some of his isolated straight shots or his combinations were cunning and accurate, the strong Valle always stayed close to him and outpowered him landing power punches in right hand, left hook, etc.
Therefore, although he did not overwhelm his opponent, he did not perfectly control his timing and received some hands in the middle distance that he will have to analyze, in general Valle landed the most significant punches and with them he impressed the judges much more than his opponent.
