A pesar de que en su anterior subida al ring sufrió una derrota, el filipino Bienvenido Ligas 15(9KO)-3-2 demostró en ella que tiene un buen nivel y que está capacitado para combatir contra púgiles con aspiraciones mundiales, ya que perdió por mínima diferencia contra el 4º WBO Olimjon Nazarov en una velada organizada por la promotora de su contrincante. Tras este tropiezo, Ligas regresó al ring defendiendo su cinto nacional ante el exclasificado Genesis Libranza 20(12KO)-2(1), ante el cual demostró nuevamente sus capacidades logrando una convincente victoria por decisión unánime (119-109, 116-112, 116-112).
Aunque tenía delante un reto considerable, Ligas se mostró sólido y logró establecer un control táctico desde el comienzo midiendo a su contrincante con el jab, escogiendo esporádicos uno-dos y dando pasos atrás para evitar las ofensivas de su rival. Como Libranza no podía igualar el trabajo de su adversario desde la distancia larga, intentó acortar los espacios y conectar sus hooks, pero su menor agilidad y velocidad de piernas le dificultaron tener éxitos. En este sentido, se debe mencionar que Ligas supo anticiparse contragolpeando con sus gancho de mano adelantada en corta y evitó dejarse encerrar prolongadamente en las cuerdas con oportunos pasos laterales acompañados de directos.
Puntualmente, como por ejemplo en el sexto episodio, Libranza logró encerrar brevemente al campeón, pero estos éxitos duraron poco y pronto Ligas volvió al centro del ring para hacer valer su superior jab, sus uno-dos y sus uno-dos-hook y ganar los episodios. Así, aunque en la segunda mitad Libranza tuvo mejores momentos que en la primera mitad y su potencia se dejó notar a través de algunos buenos golpes de poder en gancho arriba y abajo o uppercut, Ligas mantuvo la compostura y en general tuvo la astucia, la precisión, el control de ring y la defensa para merecer una clara victoria.
Ligas parece estar asentándose en su boxeo profesional cada vez mejor, y a sus 24 años le queda muchísimo tiempo por delante para evolucionar y lograr alcanzar pugnas importantes. De momento, tras su mayor victoria ante Libranza, su prioridad debería ser intentar dar forma a una firme racha de victorias y tratar de seguir acumulando experiencia de calidad antes de empezar a buscar clasificarse a través de una pugna por el cinturón continental OPBF o capturando un cetro menor de un organismo mundial.

Despite the fact that in his previous ring appearance he suffered a defeat, the Filipino Bienvenido Ligas 15(9KO)-3-2 showed in it that he has a good level and that he is capable of fighting against boxers with world aspirations, since he lost by narrow difference against the WBO number 4 Olimjon Nazarov in an evening organized by the promoter of his opponent. After this setback, Ligas returned to the ring defending his national belt against former ranked boxer Genesis Libranza 20 (12KO)-2(1), against whom he once again demonstrated his abilities achieving a convincing victory by unanimous decision (119-109, 116-112, 116-112).
Although he faced a considerable challenge, Ligas was solid and managed to establish tactical control from the start by measuring the distance with the jab, choosing sporadic one-twos and stepping back to avoid the attacks of his opponent. As Libranza was unable to match his opponent’s work from long range, he attempted to close the spaces and land his hooks, but his inferior agility and leg speed made it difficult for him to succeed. In this sense, it should be mentioned that Ligas knew how to punch first with his lead hook at short range and avoided being pinned on the ropes for a long time with opportune lateral steps accompanied by straight shots.
Occasionally, for example in the sixth episode, Libranza managed to briefly corner the champion, but these successes were short-lived and soon Ligas returned to the center of the ring to impose his superior jab, his one-two and his one-two-hook and win the rounds. Thus, although in the second half Libranza had better moments than in the first half and his power was visible through some good power shots in hook or uppercut, Ligas maintained his composure and in general had the cunning, the precision, the ring control and the defense to earn a clear victory.
Ligas seems to be getting better and better in his professional boxing, and at just 24 he has a lot of time to evolve and reach important fights. For now, after his biggest victory against Libranza, his priority should be to try to build a good winning streak and continue accumulating quality experience before looking to get ranked through a fight for the OPBF belt or capturing a minor title of a world organization.
